Shielded Low Voltage Cables


  • LV  power cables for energy supply are used for industry and distribution boards , power stations , panels , house connecting boxes , subscriber networks & street lighting . those cables are installed in open air , underground , indoor and in cable ducts .
shielded types are allowed to use it as neutral-protective or earthed conductor . simultaneously , this also is permitted to apply it as a screen .

Technical Specification

In the voltage designation of U0/U(Um), The rated voltages of the cables considered in IEC standard are as follows: U0/U(Um)=0.6/1(1. 2) – 1.8/3(3.6) KV.
U0 is the rated power frequency voltage between conductor and earth or metallic screen.
U is the rated power frequency voltage between conductors.

Um is the maximum value of the "highest system voltage" for which the equipment may be used.

Construction features:

-Conductor size : Up to 630

- No. of cores : 1 to 5 cores

-Conductor material: Plain/Tinned copper or aluminum

-Conductor type: Solid(Class1)/Stranded(class2)/Fine stranded (Class 5) - Shaped or round

-Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) or Polyvinyl chloride ( PVC)

-Filler/Inner sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)

 -Metallic shield : Concentric copper wires, Braided, Copper tape or combination of wires & tape  

-Sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or high density polyethylene ( HDPE)

Other features :

-Ultra violet (UV) resistant colored outer sheath

-Low smoke and fume (LSF)

-Halogen free and flame retardant (HFFR)

- Oil & hydrocarbon resistant

-Fire resistant

-Vermin proof

Note : Cables with rated voltage 1.8/3 (3.6) KV will be fabricated with one or three cores and have a metallic layer surrounding the cores either individually or collectively .
